INSTRUCTION FOR
TELESIS 5 MATTE LACE ADHESIVE
Telesis 5 Matte Lace Adhesive is the ideal adhesive for laying hair goods.
The matting agents are mixed intrinsically during the manufacturing process which ensures a fluid consistency so the adhesive never gets hard or cracks - it dries matte and stays matted.
T 5 Matte adhesive is pliable and will move with your actor's face. It is non-flammable, non-toxic and safer than spirit gums and other gum-based, flammable adhesives. This adhesive has been manufactured for professional use and there is a learning curve. To be effective,
Telesis 5 Matte adhesive must be used with a Telesis
Thinner, preferably Telesis 5 Thinner.
Telesis 5 Matte Lace Adhesive contains a combination of matting agents that are mixed into the adhesive during the manufacturing process. Because of this, the adhesive is thick and viscous and it cannot be "thinned down" like other silicone adhesives. In order to apply the matte adhesive effectively, Telesis 5
Thinner must be used in conjunction with the lace adhesive during the application process.
To start, vigorously shake the bottle of T 5 Matte adhesive for several
minutes before using. Make sure that the ball baring in the bottle can be seen and heard, and that the matting agents are not settled on the bottom of the bottle but evenly dispersed in the adhesive immediately before using.
Take two cc cups and mark them accordingly to prevent any mix up between the adhesive and thinner. Pour a small amount of adhesive into a cc cup and then pour a small amount of
Telesis 5 Thinner into the other cc cup. Dip your brush into the thinner and skim off any excess on the side of the container. Dip your brush directly into the cc cup of
T 5 Matte lace adhesive and apply it to the skin. Brush the adhesive on quickly and lay the lace on top immediately. You do not have to touch it
or tap it to get it tacky or matted. The adhesive dries quickly so you will need to work fast. Once the adhesive is dry it will not turn white or yellow and it will be pliable enough to move with your actor's face.
(Remember: If you do not dip your brush into the thinner prior to applying the adhesive, the
T 5 Matte adhesive will be too thick to apply effectively).
If you apply too much adhesive and it builds up on the lace, or if you need to do any touch ups, dip your brush into the thinner and it will tap right out. Once the adhesive dries in the cc cup and gets hard, it will not longer be usable so pour it sparingly prior to your application.
If you have any questions concerning the proper use of Telesis 5 Matte Lace
Adhesive, please let us know. (The preceding information is based on makeup
applications tests conducted on actual productions by Jill Rockow)
"Telesis 5 Matte Lace Adhesive was the only lace adhesive we used for lace hair goods on all
"Cat in The Hat" photo and stunt doubles. We used Telesis 5 Matte for 96 applications over a 6 month period of time. It never made the lace yellow and touch-ups were minimal.
I also used T 5 Matte on an episode of "Enterprise" that featured
Klingons. The T 5 Matte adhesive kept my Klingon's hair goods (moustaches, beards, eyebrows) on much better
than other artists using different types of spirit gum even during outdoor shots in the desert on really hot days."
